Biography
Muhammad Balarabe
Associate, Health Portfolio

I have a strong interest in the social justice approach to equitable healthcare access for all. Existing global health frameworks have not delivered equity in health and addressing this problem is at the core of my professional endeavors. As an Associate at Busara, I lead project research implementation in areas of digital health, sexual and reproductive health, and health systems strengthening. Through these projects we have generated evidence on Enhancing Sexual and Reproductive Health Delivery through Human Centered Design and provided recommendations towards an effective e-pharmacy guideline in Nigeria from the Key Insights from our Exploratory Research on the Supply and Demand Sides of the e-Pharmacy Ecosystem in Lagos, Nigeria.

Prior to joining Busara, I supported research work in areas of physical activity and the built environment as an early career researcher with the Global Diet and Activity Research (GDAR) Group at the University of Cambridge. Another previous research experience, at University of Cape Town’s African Center for Cities, is an exploratory study on age-friendly environments in the context of sub-Saharan Africa.

I have a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Population Health Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Natural and Environmental Sciences from the American University of Nigeria.
