Busara is honored to announce that it has been awarded the Research Institution License by the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation during a national dialogue session held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies on November 11, 2025.
The session was presided over by  Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Research and Innovation.

This recognition formally designates Busara as a Registered Research Institution under National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI), granting it legal authorization to conduct research in Kenya. It affirms Busara’s compliance with national regulations under the Science, Technology, and Innovation Act, including standards for research integrity, data protection, and reporting, and reinforces its institutional credibility within Kenya’s national research framework.

The State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, established under Executive Order No. 1 of 2025 within the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, promotes science, research, and innovation as key drivers of sustainable socio-economic development. Through its agencies, the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI), the National Research Fund (NRF), and the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), the Department supports the establishment of research programs, hubs, and centers of excellence.
