FARM (Food Agriculture and Resilience Management)

Busara’s portfolio in Food Systems, Agriculture, and Environmental Sustainability represents a cornerstone of our work, reflecting our commitment to driving impactful change across ecosystems. By working with stakeholders across Africa and Southeast Asia—including farmers, agro-dealers, governments, environmental organizations, and policymakers—we translate behavioral science into actionable strategies that address critical global challenges.

Our Integrated Approach:

  1. Sustainable Agriculture: Collaborating with stakeholders to promote practices that enhance resilience, reduce emissions, and safeguard livelihoods.
  2. Food Systems Efficiency: Addressing inefficiencies in supply chains and consumption to reduce waste and ensure equitable access to nutritious food.
  3. Environmental Conservation: Using behavioral insights to influence practices that conserve ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and mitigate climate change.
  4. Circular Economies: Transforming perceptions of waste to encourage sustainable recycling and resource recovery, fostering a culture of reuse and innovation.
  5. Behavior-Informed Communication: Designing strategies that drive long-term behavior change to promote sustainability at scale.

We have partnered with UNICEF, USAID, the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and CARE Ethiopia. Our projects range from investigating Antimicrobial Resistance in cows to the GAIN EastSafe initiative, designing impactful Social and Behavior Change Communication strategies for UNICEF, value chain analysis, and venturing into diverse initiatives within the sustainability sector. By integrating behavioral insights into food systems, agriculture, and environmental conservation, Busara ensures its efforts are grounded in evidence, contextually relevant, and focused on long-term sustainability.
