Mission Statement: We are reimagining insurance with at-risk communities by leveraging behavioral science. Our mission is to inform the design of inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven financial safety nets that enhance resilience and economic security for underserved populations.
Problem Statement: Millions of at-risk individuals lack access to affordable and effective insurance, leaving them vulnerable to financial shocks caused by health crises, climate change, and economic instability. Traditional insurance models often fail to accommodate the realities of informal economies, gender disparities, and the power of social networks in financial decision-making.
Our Unique Approach: At the heart of our work is a deep understanding of people—their behaviors, perceptions, and the dynamics that drive them. We believe that risk management doesn’t have to be a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, it should be shaped by the communities it’s meant to serve, especially women and marginalized groups who often face the most barriers in accessing financial protection.
Our unique capability lies in applying behavioral science research to drive more inclusive and effective risk management solutions. We move beyond the typical insurance models and explore how people’s behaviors—driven by emotions, social dynamics, and biases—affect their willingness to adopt and engage with insurance.
Theory of Change: If we understand how people make financial decisions under risk and uncertainty in their lived experiences, we can influence gender-responsive financial design, then we can transform risk management by creating community-centered insurance solutions that improve financial security and resilience for at-risk populations. This is because these approaches are grounded in a deep understanding of the psychological, social, and cultural factors that shape how underserved communities perceive and manage risk, ensuring that insurance solutions are aligned with their lived realities, trust-based networks, and financial behaviors.
