OVERVIEW
This document breaks down the Busara Model, showing our way of working and highlighting case studies at every stage to show what it would look like when applied.
At Busara we identify and prioritize problems for behavioral intervention, collaborating with partners to develop a pathway for change. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, we explore obstacles and target specific populations, aiming to improve lives with participant involvement and locally-relevant solutions.
We measure impacts, learn from experiences, and translate research insights for policymakers. Additionally, we pursue internal research projects to enhance tools, accessibility, and intentional practices, improving the quality of evidence we generate.
There are several areas that we have been involved in. They include;
- We conduct research on social norms impacting girls’ equal opportunities, focusing on education, marriage, reproductive health, and job market participation. They provide evidence-based recommendations for resource allocation, emphasizing the importance of education in preventing child marriage and early childbirth.
- Another one of our studies explores intra-household finance dynamics, revealing gender differences in decision-making.
- We also address barriers to adherence in healthcare, developing effective interventions like tracking calendars and counseling cards. This is through the application of behavioral science to projects such as HIV prevention, group savings, and healthier food choices.
By involving participants and using qualitative and quantitative methods, Busara tailors interventions for positive behavioral change, continually learning and improving their designs.
