OVERVIEW
A Behavioral audit of e-Pharmacy services in Nigeria
The emergence of digital health solutions in Africa, such as e-Pharmacy services, presents novel solutions to enhance service delivery to expand and extend access to healthcare. This study focuses on HealthPlus, an e-Pharmacy service in Nigeria, investigating its potential to promote access and utilization of modern family planning products among users. Utilizing qualitative methods such as user observations and in-depth interviews, this ongoing study presents findings from a behavioral audit of HealthPlus, highlighting insights through the fusion of behavioral science and digital healthcare provision.
THEMATIC AREAS
Although the study expected to conclude by September, preliminary findings suggest a need for informed interventions such as personalized nudges based on user preferences and history, along with leveraging behavioral techniques like default option effects to steer users towards positive family planning outcomes, looking at both user experience and behavioral intervention perspectives. This research has the potential to increase e-Pharmacy use in Africa, where access to medicines is essential but currently limited. For example, by utilizing HealthPlus platform for sexual and reproductive health interventions, the study could exert substantial influence on a large scale.
