Busara launches Tafakari Yearbook 2025

February 7, 2025

In You are not a meteor: Humans and metrics Tafakari 2025, 20 Busara authors unpack one of the  tensions Busara and the development world at large continuously navigates: change is multi-dimensional and happens through sustained engagement. Change also needs time to learn what the right change should even look like. Yet, impact is wanted quickly and is usually presented  with numbers: so many lives improved, so many programmes influenced.

With Tafakari 2025,  Busara is  looking to clarify our thinking about impact measurement and to contribute to a conversation on greater accountability, particularly at times of rapid change for the development sector.

“Our focus must shift from simple metrics of impact to more complex, meaningful ones—the kind the authors of this Tafakari propose,” said Francis Meyo, Busara’s CEO. “This may include primarily changing from outputs to systems, recognizing that meaningful, sustainable change requires addressing some of these metrics in a connected way. Impact is not an endpoint but a living process of growth, adaptation, process, and discovery.”

Busara’s Tafakari offers an annual summary of who we are, what we do, and where we are going, and is available on the Busara website (busara.global
