June 12, 2025

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is now a key sponsor for the Economic Sciences Association(ESA) Africa Conference and Nairobi Evidence Week running from June 23rd-27th.

The theme of the Nairobi  Evidence Week is Improving lives through better methods, data, and collaboration. The week brings together the Africa Evidence Summit (June 23 – 24) and the ESA  and brings together researchers, policy actors, and practitioners dedicated to the application of evidence, improved methods, and reliable data to address evolving policy and development priorities.

IDRC champions and funds research and innovation within and alongside developing regions to drive global change by supporting knowledge sharing between researchers and policymakers for greater uptake and use, and mobilizing global alliances to build a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Beyond financial sponsorship, IDRC will be supporting and encouraging researchers from their Growth and Economic Opportunities for Women – East Africa (GrOW) program to attend the entire Nairobi Evidence Week events for an enriching and engaging experience.

“How evidence is generated is key in ensuring it is credible and reliable. Gatherings such as the ESA Africa conference allow researchers to learn from each other, and get feedback on ideas in real-time,” said Colleen Duggan, Team Leader of the Sustainable Inclusive Economies Program at IDRC.

“At IDRC, we believe that evidence is a foundational pillar for transformative change. Engagement in the Nairobi Evidence Week reflects our commitment to supporting research that informs policy, drives innovation, and delivers lasting impact for communities, men and women across the Global South.”said Annet Abenakyo Mulema, Senior Program Officer at the IDRC

“Understanding how we can better use research to inform policy and practice has always been at the heart of what we do at Busara. We’re excited to be partners with IDRC with whom we share this vision,” said Engy Saleh, Director of Behavioral Research and Academic Engagements at Busara.
