Media advisory: APHRC partners with Busara for the Economic Science Association Africa Conference 2025

June 12, 2025

What began as a shared commitment to centering African researchers in research about Africa, has grown into a formal partnership. Busara welcomes The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) as a key sponsor for the Economic Science Association (ESA) Africa Conference hosted by Busara during the Nairobi Evidence Week running from June 23rd-27th.

The theme of the Nairobi  Evidence Week is Improving lives through better methods, data, and collaboration. The week features the Africa Evidence Summit (June 23 – 24) and the ESA, convening researchers, policy actors, and practitioners dedicated to the application of evidence, improved methods, and reliable data to address evolving policy and development priorities.

APHRC, an Africa-based and African-led premier research-to-policy institution, is dedicated to generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development.

Busara is proud to have a partner with an Africa-wide mandate and reach for the ESA Africa Conference 2025. ESA Africa is one of the most prominent gatherings in experimental and behavioral economics and one of the only international experimental economics conferences to happen regularly in Africa.

“We are honoured to be part of creating a space for African researchers to debate the evidence and set the agenda in a way that prioritises what matters to individuals on the continent,” said Damazo Kadengye, Head of Data Synergy & Evaluations at APHRC.

“The Nairobi Evidence Week is all about African researchers. We’re very happy to have a partner who works on the continent and understands the challenges faced in increasing the use of data to inform policy,”  said Engy Saleh, Director of Behavioral Research and Academic Engagements at Busara.

The Nairobi Evidence Week is a series of evidence-focused events running June 23rd-27th. The Nairobi Evidence Week includes:
