Cynthia Mbabazi
Senior Analyst

I am passionate about designing and delivering research projects that provide impactful insights for clients’ decision making in development. As an Associate at Busara, I lead the design, execution, and delivery of behavioral research projects focused on civic engagement. My role involves managing end-to-end project processes ensuring that every engagement is responsive to client needs and grounded in methodological rigor. I work closely with analysts and fellow associates to translate research questions into well-structured data collection tools, oversee implementation, and maintain high-quality standards across all project phases. I also serve as a client liaison, ensuring clear communication and responsiveness to stakeholder needs throughout the project lifecycle.

Prior to Busara, I gained cross-sectoral experience in market research and policy analysis. My experience in the private sector enriched me with skills in market research, data analysis, executive-level presentations, and team work across different countries. As a research consultant for KDI School in partnership with the World Bank Global Delivery Initiative, I worked with government officials to explore how to leverage digital technologies to improve electoral management. This experience taught me the importance and challenges of citizen engagement in rolling out new public technologies. My experience as a research and policy analyst in the NGO sector equipped me with skills on stakeholder engagement in the civic space and communication of research findings.

My key interest lies in leveraging behavioral insights and data to inform people-centric policies and programs in governance and civic participation. I hold a Masters degree in Public Policy from KDI School of Public Policy and Management, South Korea, an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Makerere University, Uganda.
