Jennifer Adhiambo
Senior Research Manager, BRACE

I am a teacher by profession and the passion for teaching is what captivated me the first time I set foot in the Busara Lab. Largely, this has given me the opportunity to see the world through different lenses; using games to understand human behavior and decision making. I work with both local and international researchers in adapting protocols/WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic) behavioral concepts into the developing world context and have built a lot of experience running experiments in a controlled environment (Behavioral Lab).

Currently, as a Senior Research Manager in Busara with over 10 years experience in research and development programs, I manage a portfolio of projects working directly with a team of researchers leading business development initiatives, project design phase, handling IRB and ethical considerations, project management and providing overall supervision on projects during implementation.

In my tenure at Busara, I have worked on projects that have been published in leading academic journals; a longitudinal field experiment on Alleviating time poverty among the working poor, a lab experiment on Participation and collective decision making and another on the Role of social ties among many others. Contextualization being a very important element in our work, I have worked on validating behavioral measures to suit the Kenyan context and contributed to a voice on increasing participation in behavioral science research among African researchers. Additionally, I remotely co-taught a course on Behavioral science in international development at the Harris school, University of Chicago.

Prior to joining Busara, I was a trainer at the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT) teaching Business and Commerce. I am holder of a Bachelor of Education Arts in Economics & Commerce from University of Nairobi.
