Biography
I am an Analyst in the Governance Portfolio working on tools and research that strengthen governance and civic participation for different groups by leveraging behavioral science to address poverty and participation gaps. I have a strong public health research and behavioral economics background, bringing an interdisciplinary lens to governance. Through research and experimentation, we support different partners in using data-driven insights, driving evidence-based policies and interventions that enhance well-being, particularly in resource-constrained settings—for instance, working with civil society organizations and community groups to identify and address participation barriers.
Working at Busara has given me a platform to contribute to qualitative and quantitative methodologies, helping research teams to design and implement projects that provide actionable insights. Some of my recent contributions include the Community Messaging and Civic Participation project (CMCP 4), where we are interested in studying how people access civic information, decide to get involved (or not), and the role trusted actors, such as community leaders or civil society organizations, play in this process. In another recent project, “Enhancing Fisherfolk Safety in Uganda”, our team underscored that technology can be effective, but only when it is paired with sustained local ownership. These, among other projects, have contributed to a deeper understanding of participatory development.
Beyond my work at Busara, I actively engage with global research networks. I am a 2024 fellow at ASAPbio, a nonprofit promoting open science in life sciences, and have collaborated with the African Community for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (ACSRM) and the Africa Health Economics Study Group, fostering knowledge-sharing and interdisciplinary collaborations. I am also a member of the Africa Bioethics Network, contributing to discussions on ethical research practices.
Before Busara, I worked as a Research Assistant at Adaptive Management & Research Consultants (AMREC Africa), where I developed research methodologies, collected and analyzed public health data, and led stakeholder engagement. My role also extended into product support within the healthcare industry, including successfully negotiating the donation and purchase of the Medela Hospital Pump for Pumwani Maternity Hospital, a critical contribution to Human Milk Bank operations. I am committed to using research to drive social impact, policy change, and community-driven development. My ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between research and real-world application to create sustainable, data-informed solutions for global development challenges.
I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science with IT from Maseno University, Kenya.
