BeGov: Behavioral Science for Governance

Behavioral Science for Governance (BeGov) exists to close the gap between behavioral science research and the real-world strategies that civil society, governments, and other policy actors use to achieve effective citizen engagement.
Our work fosters meaningful connections between policymakers and communities with ongoing initiatives in East Africa and beyond. We have partnered with government, multilateral institutions, funders, researchers, technical experts, academia, civil society, and community groups to design behavioral interventions that foster effective citizen engagement to improve governance outcomes. Through strategic collaboration with policy actors, we apply research, experimentation, and capacity strengthening to enhance citizen engagement.

By helping our partners integrate behavioral science into their approaches, we are building an ecosystem in which diverse actors can collaborate and leverage innovation, experimentation, and evidence to build communities where meaningful dialogue thrives and strengthens governance outcomes. BeGov operates in two portfolios: the Governance and Accountability Portfolio and the Social Cohesion Portfolio.
