Biography
Good quality education and thriving labor markets are pathways to economic stability and social mobility. Unfortunately, these two factors are rarely the norm, and many children and youth are left behind– especially those living in resource-constrained contexts. I believe the tools from behavioral science and experimental economics can help us understand the contexts of the people we serve and test interventions to improve student learning and youth employment in the Global South.
As a Senior Associate in the Education and Labor portfolio, my focus is on understanding the intricate dynamics shaping education and employment systems: I spend my day thinking about how system actors affect education and employment, and what it means for students and young people looking for a better future. I work closely with stakeholders within these systems to drive strategic outcomes, most often through lasting behavior change. Some of my work includes improving the quality of primary education in public schools in Zambia through teacher interventions and encouraging youth to take on self-directed work in job markets that increasingly demand green skills.
Before Busara, I spearheaded efforts to integrate cognitive science principles into educational technology, with a focus on enhancing student learning, motivation, and retention. Additionally, I have extensive experience in conducting impact assessments across various sectors including social inclusion, health, WaSH, and child protection.
